What RevShare percentage should you expect in iGaming affiliation?

Typical iGaming RevShare rates (25% to 50% of NGR), how NGR is calculated, tiers, admin fees and negative carryover, and how to negotiate a better percentage.

"Up to 50% RevShare" is one of the most common lines in iGaming affiliate programs. But the percentage alone tells you very little. What you actually earn depends on what the percentage is applied to, how the tiers work and how losses are handled.

This guide explains the usual ranges and the details that change the real value of a deal. For the basics of each model, read CPA, RevShare or Hybrid.

The usual RevShare ranges

These are the ranges most often advertised by casino affiliate programs. They are market observations, not guarantees:

  • 25% to 35%: a common starting rate for new affiliates.
  • 35% to 45%: affiliates with steady volume, or a negotiated deal.
  • 45% to 50% and above: high-volume affiliates, networks, or programs trying to grow fast. Some crypto programs advertise more, often with stricter conditions.

Sportsbook RevShare is often lower than casino RevShare, because the operator's margin on sports betting is smaller.

The percentage is applied to NGR, not to deposits

RevShare is almost always calculated on NGR (Net Gaming Revenue), not on what players deposit. A typical formula looks like this:

  1. GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue): total bets minus total winnings paid to players.
  2. Minus bonuses given to players.
  3. Minus payment fees, chargebacks and sometimes gaming taxes or platform fees.
  4. The result is the NGR, and your percentage applies to it.

Two programs both offering 40% can pay very different amounts if one deducts far more from GGR than the other. Always ask for the exact NGR formula in writing.

Tiers: how the percentage grows

Most programs use tiers based on the number of new depositing players (FTDs) or on the NGR you generate each month. For example:

  • 0 to 10 FTDs per month: 25%
  • 11 to 30 FTDs per month: 30%
  • 31 to 60 FTDs per month: 35%
  • More than 60 FTDs per month: 40% or a custom deal

Check two things: whether the tier is recalculated every month (you can drop back down after a quiet month), and whether the higher rate applies to all your players or only to the players above the threshold.

Admin fees: the hidden deduction

Some programs deduct an admin fee from NGR before applying your percentage, often between 10% and 30%. On a 40% deal, a 20% admin fee means you effectively earn 32% of NGR. It is not necessarily a bad deal, but it must be compared honestly with programs that charge nothing.

Negative carryover: the clause that matters most

If your players win more than they lose in a month, the NGR becomes negative. The key question is what happens next:

  • No negative carryover: the balance resets to zero each month. You lose nothing beyond that month. This is the safest option for affiliates.
  • Negative carryover: the negative balance is carried to the next months and must be recovered before you earn again. One big winner can wipe out several months of commissions.

A 35% deal without carryover is often worth more than a 45% deal with carryover, especially for streamers and small affiliates whose results vary a lot from month to month.

Wager-based deals: a different model

Many crypto casinos pay a share of the house edge on what your players wager, instead of a share of NGR. You earn on every bet, whether players win or lose, so there is no negative month. The percentages look smaller because they apply to a different base, so compare them by estimating your monthly earnings rather than comparing the headline numbers.

Sub-affiliate commissions

Programs with a sub-affiliate system often pay 2% to 5% of the earnings of the affiliates you refer. This is the model behind affiliate networks that bring several creators to one brand.

How to get a better percentage

  1. Show data: average viewers or traffic, audience countries, and past conversions. Programs pay for proven quality.
  2. Start with a test period: agree on a review after one or two months, based on results.
  3. Negotiate the details, not only the rate: no negative carryover, no admin fee and faster payments can be worth more than 5 extra points.
  4. Ask for a hybrid: a small CPA plus a lower RevShare can secure income from the first month.
  5. Get everything in writing: rate, tiers, NGR formula, carryover rule and payment terms.

The short version

  • 25% to 50% of NGR is the usual range for casino RevShare.
  • The NGR formula, admin fees and negative carryover matter as much as the rate.
  • A slightly lower rate with clean terms often pays more over a year.
